Art from the Maternity Shoot
I've been playing around and learning more about using different textures and trying out templates in Photoshop so I thought I would share some that I've done.

This was done using a couple of free texture found on Flickr. I had to play around with it, deleting in some places, overlapping and adding in others until I got the desired effect which I am pleased with.
I also played around and made some collages that I thought would look great as enlargements framed and hung to show off some of the photographs from the session in little stories/themes.

I can't wait to do more sessions like this where I have opportunites for creativity. I love my job.

Maternity Shoot
I thought I would share some images from a maternity session I did this weekend. The parents are both firefighters (though of course mom isn't out fighting any blazes right now) and dad is also in the military so this little one will have lots to be proud of when he gets here. This couple is very deserving after trying for so long and having several miscarrages, they are finally expecting their son next month. I hope I was able to capture this special time in their lives in a way they can cherish forever.
I felt bad on some of the shots where she had to lay down on the floor. If you've ever been pregnant, you know that is an ordeal trying to get up and down, but she was a trooper and they came out great.
I told her the name was too long though because my blocks kept falling off of her belly! She made her husband go behind the background and sit down so she could lean against him so her belly would stick out just a little more. It worked and that left her hands free to place on her belly instead of holding herself up.
Overall, I was very pleased with this session and hopefully will get the opportunity for more maternity sessions in the future.
If you would like, you can see more from this session at my website or my Flickr!

Local Paper
This is a really neat experience. The newspaper out of Louisville Ky, (nearby city to me) is putting together a coffee table book of pictures from Kentuckiana. (For those of you who aren't from around here, Kentuckiana is a term used to describe Louisville and its surrounding counties, cities, and towns, including those just across the river in Southern Indiana. The term Kentuckiana is commonly used by Louisville news stations, businesses, and even residents when referring to Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana as a whole.)
I have submitted some of my work to be included in the book. Anyone can sign up and vote for their favorites. It's nice how they have it worked out too because you can't just sign up multiple email accounts and vote for your pictures. Also the editors pick their favorites too and the newspaper photographers submit their photos to be judged just like everyone else's.
It is a really neat idea and I can't wait to see how it turns out. Right now, some of my stuff is doing pretty good.
If anyone reads this, just go to Capture Kentuckiana and do a search for Lynley and help me out with some votes! I will be sure and let you know how much of my stuff gets in! Thanks ahead of time for your votes, it will be my first published works if I get in!

Latest Shoot
I thought I would share with you the latest shoot I did. I had the priveledge of photographing my soon to be neice as she and my nephew will be getting married next year. Her cousin was with her as well and I had her hop in a few shots as well and both girls were beautiful so it made my job all the more easier.
I think I found my new favorite locations today though. We went to My Old Ky Home State Park and The Old Bardstown Village if you are wondering the locations. Very beautiful scenery, great time of the day for sunlight too. I had a good time doing these, probably the easiest shoot I've ever done but they are 19 years old so it should have been easier than doing small children. Anyway, here are a few of the shots.

Latest shoot
I thought I would share some of my favorites from my most recent shoot. A 9 month old and a 2 year old. The 2 year old didn't want to cooperate much but we got a few shots of her. The 9 month old is at the stage where she is wanting to crawl everywhere and is starting to walk to so she was a blast to work with and we got some really cute shots. I have another shoot Wednesday of my first customer I did. Another 9 month old baby and a 3 and 4 year old. The dad wants to take some shots with the kids and we'll try and get some outdoor shots as well, weather permitting. That will be a fun shoot. I love babies.

More New Stuff
Well I am up and running! I am awaiting on my domain to go through so I can have an actual website name.
I have all new lighting and backgrounds and now comes the fun part.
Waiting for someone to want me to take their pictures! I am so nervous. Thankfully I have a wonderful husband who believes in me.
It's so funny because I've been taking pictures for a while now and never been nervous before but I guess there is something about going out on my own that scares me half to death!
Taking that giant leap and giving it all you got and hoping you don't fall flat on your face.
Wondering if anyone will want your service and then when they do worrying if they will be happy with your work.
I know I can do it but I guess it will take me some time before it really sinks in and I realize, this is it, this is what I've wanted forever and it's finally happening!!
I guess all I can do is cross my fingers and jump and hope for the best!

First Pro Shoot
Well as a bit of an introduction I am a photographer. I have been doing photography professionally for about 2 years and as a hobby for as long as I can remember. I worked for a couple of different studios and now I have made the big decision to go out on my own. Scared yes, worried, definitely, excited, you bet! I can't think of anything I would rather do more (besides being a mom) than be a photographer but this way, I can be both without sacrificing time with my family. Being able to set my own times and be my own boss is great. How's the money? Well I don't know yet but whatever it is, whether it's a lot or a little, I am doing something I love and all the money in the world isn't enough when you have a job you hate. So wish me luck and hopefully soon I will be able to share photos from lots of great shoots. I am starting to get around by word of mouth and already have quite a few interested so fingers are crossed!
This week I had my first actual shoot since I've been out on my own. I havn't finished the shoot because they want outdoor shots and the weather wasn't great that day so I am going back sometime next week to finish up but anyway, here is a sample of what I've done so far.
